Clinical Trials Cardiology

Echocardiography
Echocardiography is a key diagnostic test in cardiology that uses ultrasound to obtain detailed images of the heart in real time. Through this technique, the size, shape and function of the heart's chambers and valves can be assessed, and possible structural alterations or blood flow problems can be detected.
This non-invasive test is essential for diagnosing and monitoring various heart diseases, such as heart failure, congenital heart disease, valve problems or high blood pressure. At INSCOR, we have the most advanced technology in echocardiography, guaranteeing accurate and safe diagnoses for personalised and excellent care.
Ergometry
Ergometry, or exercise stress testing, is one of the fundamental tests in cardiology practice. Evaluates the behaviour of the heart during physical exercise. The test helps to detect coronary heart disease, blood pressure disturbances, arrhythmias or disproportionate blood pressure responses to stress.
This test is fundamental not only for the diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases that do not manifest themselves at rest, but also for the prognosis of treated pathologies, providing key information for adjusting treatments and monitoring the patient's evolution.

Ergospirometry
Ergospirometry, or oxygen consumption exercise testing, is an advanced test that evaluates the response of the cardiovascular and respiratory system during exercise. This test measures maximal oxygen uptake (VO2 max), as well as lung capacity and physical performance, providing detailed information about the functioning of the heart, lungs and muscles during exercise.
This test is essential not only for athletes who wish to optimise their performance, but also for patients with cardiovascular or respiratory pathologies, helping to diagnose possible limitations in functional capacity or gas exchange. It is also a key tool for planning treatment and monitoring the evolution of these patients.
At our centre, we have specialists in performing ergospirometry and we are the leading private cardiology centre offering this type of test. This allows us to accurately assess your physical condition and detect possible problems that are not evident at rest.
Ultrasound of the Neck Vessels (Supra-aortic Trunks)
Ultrasound of the neck vessels, also known as supra-aortic trunk ultrasound, is a non-invasive imaging technique which allows assessment of the anatomy and blood flow in the carotid and vertebral arteries. This test is essential for detecting and monitoring vascular diseases, such as atherosclerosis, which can lead to serious problems such as heart attacks or strokes.
In addition, ultrasound of the neck vessels is essential for the monitoring of cardiovascular risk factors, as it allows the assessment of arterial wall thickening and the detection of vascular lesions. This information is crucial for the prevention and management of cardiovascular disease, helping to establish an appropriate treatment plan and to evaluate the effectiveness of the interventions performed.
At our centre, we have the most advanced technology and a team of specialists in performing ultrasound scans of the neck vessels, which allows us to address all types of cardiovascular and vascular pathologies with a comprehensive and personalised approach. This test is key to guaranteeing the vascular health of our patients and preventing serious complications.

Holter
The Holter monitor is a diagnostic test which records the electrical activity of the heart over a 24-hour period.. Sometimes, a conventional electrocardiogram may not detect arrhythmias or other intermittent symptoms, so the Holter provides a continuous and detailed assessment of the heart rhythm in the patient's daily life.
During monitoring, cardiologists can identify arrhythmias, episodes of tachycardia or bradycardia, and other problems that may not show up on a spot test. This test is essential for diagnosing heart rhythm disorders and evaluating the effectiveness of previous treatments.
At our centre, we have a team of expert cardiologists who analyse the data obtained from the Holter monitor to provide an accurate diagnosis and personalised recommendations for the management of your heart health. This non-invasive test is a key tool in the evaluation of cardiovascular health, providing valuable information to ensure appropriate treatment.
ABPM (Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring)
The ABPM is a portable device that measures and records blood pressure continuously for 24 hours while the patient goes about their daily activities. Like the Holter monitor, this system provides a detailed assessment of blood pressure behaviour in everyday situations, allowing the identification of patterns that cannot be captured in a conventional medical consultation.
This test is essential for to diagnose high blood pressure, as well as to assess the effectiveness of antihypertensive treatment and detect pressure fluctuations that could indicate underlying health problems. In addition, ABPM helps to determine whether hypertension is persistent or occurs in isolation in the office (white coat hypertension).
At our centre, our cardiologists carefully analyse the data obtained through the ABPM, providing an accurate diagnosis and personalised recommendations for blood pressure management. This non-invasive test is key to ensuring proper control of cardiovascular health and preventing complications associated with hypertension.

Stress Echocardiography
Stress echocardiography is an advanced diagnostic test which combines cardiac ultrasound with controlled physical exertion, allowing assessment of heart function under stressful conditions. This test is essential for detecting heart problems that may not be obvious at rest, such as coronary artery disease or heart failure.
During the procedure, ultrasound images of the heart are recorded while the patient exercises on an exercise bike or treadmill. If the patient is unable to be physically active, a drug that simulates physical exertion can be administered.
Indications for stress echocardiography include:
- Assessment of the functional capacity of the heart.
- Coronary artery disease screening.
- Assessment of the heart's response to exercise in patients with symptoms such as chest pain or shortness of breath.
- Monitoring of patients with a history of heart disease.
- Evaluation of treatment efficacy in patients with heart failure.
At INSCOR, we are the private centre par excellence in the practice of stress echocardiography in Catalonia. Our team of highly trained cardiologists, together with our state-of-the-art technology, allows us to offer accurate diagnoses and personalised treatments. We are committed to guaranteeing the best care for our patients, becoming your ally in cardiovascular health.
