proteger el cerebro, incluso en edades avanzadas.<br \/>Un estudio publicado en The Lancet Healthy Longevity con casi 10.000 participantes seguidos durante 18 a\u00f1os ha mostrado que abandonar el tabaco, aunque sea a los 50, 60 o 70 a\u00f1os, ayuda a frenar el deterioro de la memoria y la fluidez verbal.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div durante casi dos d\u00e9cadas a personas de entre 40 y 89 a\u00f1os que fumaban.<br \/>Algunos dejaron de fumar, otros continuaron.<br \/>A todos se les evaluaron dos funciones clave: la memoria (capacidad de recordar citas, conversaciones, listas) y la fluidez verbal (encontrar palabras con rapidez), habilidades que suelen deteriorarse con el paso del tiempo.<br \/><br \/>Antes de dejar de fumar, ambos grupos mostraban un deterioro similar. Sin embargo, despu\u00e9s del abandono, los exfumadores empeoraban m\u00e1s lentamente.<br \/>Esto significa que el da\u00f1o no se revierte del todo, pero s\u00ed se frena la p\u00e9rdida de agilidad mental.<br \/>En la pr\u00e1ctica, la diferencia puede ser pasar de olvidar citas \u201csiempre\u201d a hacerlo solo de vez en
